More knowledge retention

Just discovered an entry from the Knowledge El Dorado, Thanks for the Memories that points to an HBS Working Knolwedge article on the topic with this list of recommendations.

  1. Create a knowledge profile
  2. Foster mentoring relationships
  3. Encourage communities of practice
  4. Ensure that passing knowledge on is rewarded
  5. Protect people's privacy
  6. Decide whether you're interested in recorded knowledge as well

This is familiar. And as I mentioned earlier, this can only work if it is part of the existing business processes. Doing it last minute is bound to fail and create resentment amongst the outgoing parties.
