psychological orthogonality

psychological orthogonality: the propensity of people to think, "If it doesn't affect me, then I don't care about it." It has particular application in situations where people are likely to have narrow-minded view about their jobs, rather than the wholistic picture for the organization.

Term coined this evening at dinner by Al Rubenstein of IASTA.
