Project management with mind maps
Chuck Frey in today's InnovationTools newsletter gives an interesting suggestion for helping deal with all your extraneous project artifacts in How to use mind mapping software for project management. Among their primary suggestions are Idea file, Project objectives, Milestones, Questions, Information needs, Links to project resources, Define team roles and responsibilities, Experts and sources, and Project notes.
Most project tools focus on the tasks and task network with resources, but we all know that there are a lot of other things associated with projects that need to be tracked and attended to. Mind maps are a nice, graphical way to keep track of these things, as suggested in this article.

I've been working with MindManager and ResultManager for just this purpose. The first draws the maps and the second captures the key task assignments, etc.
I've not reached a final decision on its effectiveness for my needs, but so far things are promising.
