What's your Digital IQ

This older test comes from MSNBC, via Marc Orchant at The Office Weblog:

Here’s a quiz that checks your Digital IQ - less of a nerd test than the last one I wrote about and the questions cover more real-world knowledge. Greg Hughes pointed me to this one.

Greg Hughes was 225, Marc was 207, and I am a mere 165.  Still better than the "average" that I got on the Nerd test.  It would probably help if I were a regular on Slashdot. Click on the image, if you want to take this (older) test yourself.

What is my Digital IQ: 165

Unfortunately, this quiz assumes you are a PC user. Many of these questions are moot for Macs. Why install Linux? We already have a very nice flavor of Unix installed, thank you. Why update Virus files... have not done that > 1 year and NOT a problem.

They should include two more questions: 1) How many hours have you spent reformatting your hard-drive, removing spyware, extricating worms/viruses? 2) How many hours of productivity have you lost to the "blue screen of death"? The answers, in hours, should be multiplied by 5 and then SUBTRACTED from the total. Of course, for us Mac user the total would ZERO!

There are many questions missing - and many ways to more finely grade some of the questions than they used.. still my score of 207 seems relatively accurate. :)

For example - I think bonus points might be in order for how low your ID number is for Slashdot (i.e. my 5 digit id in the 18,000's probably marks me as a long time geek)

As well something about say "what decade did you first send an email in?" and/or do you manage a server on the internet? for how many years have you? etc.

Amusing nonetheless...

Ah, but Mac users are not "geeks," they are "visionaries." :)
