Wifi in Philly

So, Philadelphia has been talking about creating a public free wifi infrastructure throughout the city.  This was written at the Philadelphia International Airport, where the wifi is only available as a paid service through Cingular ($10/day).  If the city is serious about this trial, shouldn't they make a demonstration available somewhere like PHL, where some of the technical infrastructure is already in place?

Oh, and this is being posted via the free wifi at FLL.

I understand the city of Philadelphia selected Earthlink to deploy a 135 mile network creating the one of the world’s largest WiFi hotspots. Not sure if it has been implemented yet, but it sounds like a great concept.
