Mashing KM, PM and TOC
Bill Brantly (Eclectic Bill) has been thinking about how KM, TOC and Strategy are all related. Now he is proposing a mash-up of all these in Knowledge Management, Theory of Constraints, and Strategy:
Project management benefited greatly when TOC concepts were applied to it and I hope to accomplish similar benefits when applying TOC to knowledge management.
I've been thinking all along that there are some nice synergies between theory of constraints and my interests in knowledge management. Usually, I talk about it with lots of hand-waving. The ideas behind KM and TOC are to create new capabilities, or to reveal capabilities that have been there all along but are hidden by common practices. It sounds like Bill is getting deeper into working out a framework. I'll have to pay attention.
