      <![CDATA[ <p>Reputation systems are great when they work, but it's very hard to get accurate data from consumers and to protect the system from being corrupted by the marketers and malcontents.  Once the reputation system's data is polluted, the system is usually *worse* than not having a system at all because of its capacity to distort decision-making.  Eric.</p> ]]>
