Why do I need to know the terminology?
So while 40% of online Britons receive news feeds, 67% did not know that the official term for this service was Really Simple Syndication.
For those who are truly geeky, they would know that the abbreviation RSS has a number of similar expansions (RDF Site Summary, Rich Site Summary, Really Simple Syndication, and I swear I've seen more). The article makes reference to a number of other abbreviations / terms that are not completely familiar to people.
But, really, why is it important for people to know this terminology? Do the users of the technology need to be "in the club" of the people who create and promote the technology? As a user, I am much more interested in whether it works and if it fits with the way I like to work.
