Jack, I have been supporting the Navy Afloat Knowledge Management Center of Excellence in San Diego for the last couple of years. We are working with deployed war fighting staffs to implement aspects of knowledge management where they can leverage information from all sources to achieve a combat advantage. This involves using existing toolsets to share actionable information, re-use readily available processes and increase efficiency of watch standers. VADM Brown led the initiative to have a Knowledge Management Officer on every Carrier Strike Group Staff, and provides the leadership to the Information Professional community that fills these billets. I don't think the article mentioned that she also implemented Knowledge Management into her staff in Iraq, a team that has grown in size and impact.
