      <![CDATA[ <p>Another approach to "FYI mailing lists" might be to subscribe to feeds, if available.  This allows you to use your feed reader/aggregator to consume what's primarily "read-only" information (given that it's an FYI list), and reserve your email inbox for correspondence:</p>

      <![CDATA[ <p>Infoluenza - paralysis of information immune system through overload.....treatment..........think (and ask yourself why I need more of x, y or z) before you look for more bytes to devour when there's already a terabyte getting stale on your plate!</p>

<p>Human beings not technology need to solve human problems.......of course technology can help but as yet it cannot think for you.......oops there goes my alarm telling me it's time for nose bag.</p> ]]>

      <![CDATA[ <p>All excellent advice, some I've seen, some new, thanks (and a lovely neologism).  Even after applying all the best practice to avoid wandering off into the information undergrowth, I still end up with loads of stuff I really want to keep for future reference.  </p>

<p>I use mind mapping as a way of organizing information and drop files on the mindmap at the appropriate point.  But that quickly gets too big, and now I use Topicscape - <a href="http://www.topicscape.com">http://www.topicscape.com</a> - which lets you see much more at one time, in a 3D landscape.  As I can link Topicscapes by topic, the infoluenza is a lot more bearable.</p> ]]>
