      <![CDATA[ <p>Instituting a Quiet Time pretty much just illustrates the severity of their real problem rather than acts as a solution to anything. Why does their culture so undervalue the work that thinkers do that the rest of the time they expect them to be returning email? Why should someone have to be given the right to do their job? </p>

<p>Can you imagine an advertising agency instituting this type of program for its creative staff? "You're allowed to think on Tuesday morning, but only then. So you have to do as much as possible since we're going to waste your time and talents the rest of the week."</p>

<p>Something is seriously wrong at Intel, obviously. It leaves the underlying problems untouched (complete lack of understanding the need for reflection, the nature of disciplinary work, the process of inquiry...).<br />
