Authors: I need pictures
I'm in the middle of reading Personal Information Management, Edited by William Jones and Jaime Teevan. It's an academic take on the topic, so there are many references to other research and surveys associated with PIM.
The editors have built a basic model that suggests personal information management is about Keeping, Finding, and Organizing stuff. Each of these, of course, has more detail around them, so there is plenty to discuss.
The writing is fairly good for the genre, but I am missing the typical graphics and drawings that books aimed at the major markets provide. I find myself drawing on my note paper while I read and think about what they are saying. My book review will likely include some drawings, particularly if I can figure out a nice way to represent things (and figure out how to draw well).

Thanks for the reminder, Jay. Depending on where my brain is on a given day, I will pick up PowerPoint or Inspiration or even Paint to draw something. Sometimes I have a better idea of what I want to draw than others, and these different applications can fit those needs.
What I really need is a graphics person that can extract my ideas and get them down in two dimensions. :-)

In a pinch (and don't hold your nose yet), PowerPoint is a nifty canvas for drawing. It includes multiple Undo's, alignment, order (back to front), grouping, cut-and-paste from external sources, etc. I keep a stash of generic images (symbols, people) to pitch in as necessary.
