News: FDA 'In Crisis'

Ouch!  This week's Chemical & Engineering News reports, FDA 'In Crisis':

The Food & Drug Administration is so understaffed and underfunded that it puts lives at risk, concludes a scathing report from the Science & Technology Subcommittee of FDA's own Science Board.

This is happening at a time when the pharma industry is both making loads of money and scared stiff due to the lack of new blockbuster products.  Having these kinds of troubles at the regulatory level aren't going to help the industry.  And it certainly won't protect the people who consume the drugs.
