Andy Roberts links to a discussion by Miguel Cornejo Castro. Essentially, the question is whether blogs build or tear apart other online communities (listservs, online forums, etc.). The answer: it depends.

My students were given a crash course in what blogs are about by reading a dozen KM-related blogs. Now they've set up their own blogs and have been asked to reflect what they think at this point. Here's a summary.

Blogroll angst is caused by the mental anguish of maintaining the list in an interface that's difficult to manage. Just give up the blogroll altogether.
